The peak of Chaozhourestaurants belonged to the80-90’s. At that time, people in Hong Kong started to know Chaozhou cuisine, especially Chaozhou style pastry moon cake. Cantonese dim sum chefs were inspired by that pastry and changed the filling to Japanese sweet potato from taro and lotus seed paste.

Purple yum originates from Japan, tasty and colourful. There is product from China for which taste is acceptable with remarkable good value. For this recipe, taro or pumpkin can substitute purple yum if preferable.
